These were used to explain the fitness stations that were set up on court.

 

Advantages:

  • Aid visual learners in understanding the exercises better.

  • They can review the information which the teacher delivers during the explanation.

  • Pictures help in comprehending the exercise better.

 

Disadvantages: 

  • Some students learn in other styles since they are not all visual learners.  Thus it is important to cater for all pupils.

  • May be too complicated to be  understood by  learners if they are not  appropriate to  students’ abilities and age.

PowerPoint Presentations

 

This software was utilised during PE theory lessons.

 

Advantages:

  • PowerPoint Presentations can be utilised for several purposes related to diverse topics.

  • These aid learners in comprehending the material being covered through the use of images, gifs, flowcharts and videos.

  • Appealing and educative presentations promote students’ learning motivation in the lesson.

 

Disadvantages: 

  • Presentations may not be the best form of learning resource for certain students as these may hinder their concentration.

  • Some presentations may not run due to file corruption.  Teacher must be prepared with an alternative teaching aid to use as a backup.

Videos

 

These were used to support the overall comprehension of certain notions put forward during the PE theory lessons.

 

Advantages:

  • Videos can be utilised for several purposes related to diverse topics.

  • Videos further help learners comprehend the material being covered.

  • Videos offer the possibility of using verbal and visual cues in communication.

  • Videos increase interest within students especially during theory lessons.

 

Disadvantages: 

  • Some videos may be too difficult for students to understand if these are not modified to meet the learners’ capabilities, age and needs.

  • Some videos may not run due to file corruption. Teacher must be prepared with an alternative teaching aid to use as a backup.

 

 

 

BOSU Ball

 

This is an inflated rubber hemisphere which is attached to a rigid platform which was used for balance training in fitness lessons.

 

Advantages:

  • Improves the stability and balance of the learner.

  • Can be utilized for strength, cardio and other exercises.

  • It constantly engages the core abdominal muscles.

  • It gives a twist to certain exercises which students may deem as ‘boring’.

 

Disadvantages: 

  • Some students may find it difficult to work out on this type of ball.

  • Students may engage themselves in doing other things with the ball rather than exercising properly.
